I made this video a LONG time ago. About a year and a half ago. It's about my old horse Lacoda. I first bought him when I lost my confidence on Wrangler and was terrified to ride him. My parents suggested that we'd sell Wrangler and get a new horse but I didn't want to sell Wrangler. My parents got me a new horse anyway. One they thought I was a better match for. That horse was Lacoda. Later on though Lacoda ended up lessening my confidence even more to the point where I would refuse to canter and sometimes even trot. The reason for this was at the canter he would frequently take off with me and my trainer used to have to run into the arena and grab the reins and get him to stop that way. Also he would ALWAYS refuse jumps. There were multiple times where he would refuse and I'd flip over his neck and land on the other side of the fence. And when all of this wasn't going on he'd be lame. And not just a little off but DEAD lame. There were times when I couldn't ride him for a couple months. Plus the vet bill was NOT making my dad happy. he would threaten to sell both my horses and say that I couldn't ride anymore. He never followed through with it thank god but it still hurt my feelings. Eventually I did start to gain my confidence back. And I began actually riding him again and jumping him. And we were doing pretty good. I mean he would still refuse at LEAST a few times a lesson. But I wasn't as scared anymore and he didn't refuse as much. But then he went lame.. again... for two months. My parents talked to me one day saying that they think its best if we just sell Lacoda and get a new horse that I can actually get somewhere with. That's how I got Preston. Sure I was sad but now I had a nice horse that can take me where I want to go. You may be wondering why i'm pointing out all this bad stuff about Lacoda. Well because now I've been thinking. I almost wish I still had him... ok take out the almost. I wish I still had him. I think now that I'm stronger and a better rider I can handle a horse like him. I honestly miss this horse with all my heart. I almost feel like I abandoned him. I loved him and he loved me. I miss seeing him in his old stall, his head sticking out of his little window. There's not a day I see his old stall and think, "Lacoda used to be there." I miss him. With all my heart. And I hope one day I will have a chance to ride him again.
