Mortar Attack on Marine Base

Septemeber, 9, 2006- Haditha, Iraq, India company US Marine Field base: While on guard post, we get another wave of mortar attacks dropping from above us- there is absolutely nothing we can do except hope one of them doesnt hit us.

The attacks were consecutive every day for almost 3 weeks straight and by the 2nd week they were accurate and hitting us on target.

casualties from these attacks were one iraqi police man KIA, several injured, and serveral equipment damages.

We sent out serveral patrols to find out where it was coming from but we didnt have time to complete our mission since our rotation with 2/3 battalion was due in 2 weeks... hopefully 2/3 battalion got them after we went home.

I'm in DEP for the usaf, but I have give props to the U.S. Marines. If it wasn't for those guys we would be the ones under fire everyday in constant danger.

Why don`t you guys fool the enemy by setting off small explosions all around your base,when they send in the mortar . If you can confuse them where they are landing they will be less accurate no? I think that would work they only have so many rounds compared to the Americans.

@scids225 You are missing the concept that Marines can fight any clime and place. Don't matter if their in a small outpost in middle of IRAQ not afghan, Marines can fight anywhere and always win the battles.
