Great examples of how an architect can take a simple problem and create a complex solution.
We all do it when we are young.

That's perfectly fine to use renderings, at the beginning of part 4 he discusses the type of work that can be in a portfolio, i.e. ANYTHING, drawings, notes, etc.

@howtoarchitect I'm making a portfolio for college admissions. The examples shown on the universities website were all scanned imaged laid out with computer software. However, I like the idea of gluing printed photographs onto the pages for added dimension and texture. Is this a poor decision in your opinion?

Hey um what do "normal" peoples portfolios look like haha love ur vids
I have a question for anyone that can answer it but hope 2 hear from mr. pat himself, when making a portfolio i noticed that u put black paper in and then put the picture on top of it to make it look better, did u staple it,glue it, tape it?? its kind of a stupid question but i just wanted to know because i know that the smallest things can make or break u getting the job like u said. Also i usually just put my work into a binder some of them have holes punched in them is that good or bad????

I used spray mount. It's highly toxic, but it works well:) you can use two sided tape too.

You have very very awesome looking portfolios. But my question is:
Is it absolutely necessary to make a uniquely built portfolio to actually impress your future employers? Or is just a normal portfolio acceptable?

not at all. It's really the content that matters most. The exterior is window dressing. It's completely up to you.
