@dgexodus I would think because there are a gigantic number of inbound links from other sites using "click here". Keywords don't matter as much when your a site like wikipedia and own inbound links.

no keywords...no shit

why does adobe reader get the keyword "click here"?!?!

LOL 20,000 KEYWORDS LMFAO

You can still be penalized for keyword stuffing - I've seen this with sites that I have worked on. Simply removing 90% of the repetitive words in the meta keywords tag can make an impact. I'm not saying it will take you to the top of Google, but you will see an improvement in rankings. (BTW, I don't separate my keywords with commas; I leave it up to Google to make the iterations)

Wil, what is your actual career? Do you offer SEO services, how do I find out more information on your services. Thanks

I totally disagree. Time and time again I've seen tremendous change in rankings just by changing 3 things:
1. Title
2. Meta Description
3. Meta Keywords
The key is knowing how to do them right.

Oh yes title is HUGE
Meta Description is important too (though not as much as the title) the keywords tag is what is totally useless for SEO.

There still isnt any harm in having them is there? I dont waste any time with manually creating or working on the keywords as its all automated anyway, so I just do it.

No harm at all, according to Joel Ownsby who was there it may help with the adsense algo trying to figure out what the page is about. Just don't spend too much time on it that's all.
