The Programmed Column - Azdaja
Developed by students - Sebastian Cramer, Benjamin Heller, Luka Piskorec, Florian Strohmeier
Scripted in Phyton, modeled in Maya
The name of the column is an archaic name for a multi-headed dragon in Slavic mythology. There are only three parameters used to model the three sides of the column completely separately - the position and the magnitude of the "belly's", the global rotation of the layers and the local rotation of the each individual stone. The end 1:1 model was more then 4 meters high, weighting 2.4 tons, built in two pieces and then assembled with a crane in January 2010 on the ETH in Zurich.
