Rule of thumb. Clean off the heat sink and the CPU, then put new heat sink compound. Don't just ad new thermal grease.

@vlader10 try a bios upgrade, files should be on toshiba's site and instructions should be on the internet

Looks like you could use a little more care when setting the processor in the socket. Also looks like you could be a little neater with the thermal paste. I appreciate your video, but really what do you gain when upgrading the cpu in one of these? Won't the video card still hold you back? The ATi xpress 1150 is not really supported in the new Windows. I would probably consider doing this, if I could see where it would really help. Maybe someone can tell me how it would make a difference. Thanks!

@Endapants: I'm still on 2.6.2 IIRC as well. When I checked the dell site at the time it was the latest revision.
@InarticulateOne Its an S1G1 Slot. I checked it all out the time, dont remember the details exactly but I got two cores(first was a dud, returned) and both were correct so I suspect I was aware of what I needed.

@LethalBB
Oh, I also noticed the "S1" written on the socket itself, LOL. Anyway, I just wanted to ask you if you could tell me, based on that processor (AMDTK53HAX4DC) I thought perhaps a TMDTL60HAX5CT would be a comparable replacement similar to the upgrade you did. I'm just asking your advice since you've already successfully upgraded. Of course, I won't hold you responsible or anything should I screw my computer up. =] And thanks for any help you can give.

@InarticulateOne I dont know the specifics of each version of the chip but all TL-60s should be quite similar and definitely a worthwhile upgrade.
