the original song is John Dember's country road, I believe (USA)... Even after that, there were like 10 diferent version of it in inglish and like 5 cover in JAPANESE!!!

sO Ghibli's country road is also a cover then you might say "Yoko Honna's Country Road Cover" who's the first one that sang it translated in Japan.
