I remember the Idents used from 1989, Granada sure made up for lost time with CGI and musical Idents until it's demise...It is an interesting fact that Granada stands as the most popular and loved ITV region that ever existed...Before anyone starts screaming about that being untrue, ALL media and industry experts and Broadcasters have acknowledged that fact...The fact that Granada and Granadaland are known more for their programming and content rather than jingle and captions speaks for itself.
Granada TV took Ford motor company to court because Ford used the name for one of their cars. I still call my region Granadaland. There was a Ford advert in the 1990s and at the end it said:- Granadaland Ford Dealers steering you towards a better deal, any one remember it?
From reading a bit about Granada's history it appears the lack of animated idents, or perhaps some might say dull branding, was highly deliberate. The Bernsteins (who founded the company) never wanted the station to be seen as showy and preferred the programmes to do the talking. Strangely though even as far back as the very early 80's the local static ident and clock were computer generated. But it was cardboard all the way for network branding.
Agree with the previous comment! Granada was (and still is) my region's ITV variant but I always thought the ident was a tad dull as it never did anything between programmes or when introducing one of its own productions! Have to admit my favourite ident was ATV's!

This should have been used as a frontcap instead of the still & silent Granada frontcap.
