Here is the sixth video I got from Union Pacific's Feather River Canyon.

A little about Feather River Canyon- Was owned by the Western Pacific Railroad. Was the route the original California Zephyr took. It runs between Oroville, CA and Portola, CA. Union Pacific has named it the Canyon sub. It runs BNSF from the valley up to Keddie where it then branches and makes the BNSF Gateway sub. It's an awesome place to railfan and I think you will agree when you see this video.

Here is a shot I took of a Union Pacific IG2OA. This train has a total of 162 cars. Here it is around Pulga, CA as it goes by the double bridge right by the river. Hope you enjoy! RATE AND COMMENT ALL VIDEOS!!!!!

  • Why can't they have double stack trains through there and Donner?

  • @MultiHornguy They can. Donner is faster so intermodals are routed via there.

  • the perspective of this vidoe makes the train looks like a N scalre train.

  • I know! When I watch these videos on my computer I thought the same exact thing.

  • 31st Aug - Oct 12th. Flying into LAX and renting a car for 6 weeks. Gonna head east towards Denver, then up to Seattle via Yellowstone, then down so i won't be at FRC until early Oct.

  • @N330AA I've heard about California Zephyr and Coast Starlight detours from local photographers in the Portola area. When are you gonna be in the states? I'm gonna be in the Portola August 18-20th and might make a trip to the FRC!

  • @Alwaystrains The Cali Zephyr detours there with some frequency. I've not heard of the Coast Starlight doing it. Presumably it would then take the gateway sub to K.Falls, now that would be a spectacular route!

I flying to the USA in a month and i'm going to visit FRC again, Can't wait!

  • @N330AA There is an annual train called the Feather River Express that runs every year in August, and it goes through the FRC. Plus, there have also been Coast Starlight detours through there before, but that only happens on an EXTREMELY rare occasion.

  • FRC is just an amazing railway, it's a shame there are no scheduled passenger services along it any more.

  • I am hoping to drive from San Jose to Salt Lake City next year - fifth railfan visit to USA (from UK). Will definitely include Feather River. Many thanks for video and information.

  • Great vid and I love the vantage point

  • awsome scenery.
