  • I need to know what powder, charge etc you use :D I would love to make some subsonic 30 06 cartridges.

  • @heintron

    vihtavuori N310 powder. 10.2 grs.

    Hornady 180grs RN bullet.

    COL 78mm.

Subsonic loads in 30.06 is not for beginners, and your gun will blow up if you double-load.

  • @pederkristoffersen I see. I have actually bought some N310 for making subsonic .223 loads. Figures it should work for 30-06 as well. I will make some quickload calculations and see what I do :) Thank you!

  • @heintron

    Nice then you'r all set!

I started at 12 grs and worked my way down to 320 m/s.

Not funny to start to low and get the bullet stuck in the barrel.

1:10 twist should get the 180grs bullet going, but heavier bullets could be a problem.

You can also try to seat the bullet upside down to minimize the shellvolume.

The lower COL the better, usualy.

  • hva slags effekt da? Anslagsenergi? Ekspansjon?

Kula oppfører seg som en feit helmantel. går rett gjennom uten å rive noe.

Har skutt måse mellom øynene og det ble to små sår.

Men kula går gjennom hva som helst.

  • Nice, can you make a video with out the suppresor?

  • I made my own subsonic 30-06 now :)

  • Nice rifle, i have the same caliber but its a remington i've always been interested in buying a suppressor for my rifle but I don't know how much they cost

  • @heintron I used 10 grains IMR Trail Boss 155gr Noslers and got velocities under 1000fps.

  • I cut a wad from a facial tissue (Kleenex) by placing a penny over it and cutting around the penny to hold the powder to the back of the shell. After dropping the charge I set the wad over the mouth of the shell and push it in using the blunt end of a pen or pencil, packing it down lightly over the powder, being careful not to crush the powder. It keeps the powder against the primer for a more consistent velocities. I used 10 grains IMR Trail Boss 155gr Noslers and got velocities under 1000fps.

  • @pederkristoffersen I have the Sierra 2160 180gr spbt bullets, 1:12 twist barrel and it is 53cm. With 10.2gr N310 I get 411ms/1350fps in quickload. I have to go down to about 7gr to go subsonic. But that only fills the casing up to ~21% which is kind of... little ;) If I bring the COL down to 78mm I at least get a fill of 23% but the speed increases... I guess I should bring my chrono out to the range and start at 12gr loads to be sure.
