姫路城 世界遺産 World Heritage Himeji Castle,Himeji-jo 白鷺城

姫路城（ひめじじょう、Himeji Castle,Himeji-jo）は、兵庫県姫路市（播磨国飾東郡姫路）にあった城である。世界遺産[5]・国の特別史跡。通称・白鷺城（はくろじょう[・しらさぎじょ­う）とも呼ばれる。
第二次世界大戦

太平洋戦争にあって姫路城の白壁は非常に目立ち、また、陸軍の部隊が置かれていた姫路はアメリカ軍の爆撃対象とされることは明らかであったため、黒く染めた網で城の主要な­部分を覆い隠す事とした。しかし、1945年（昭和20年）7月3日の姫路大空襲で姫路城下は灰燼と帰する。城内にも着弾するが本城跡に有った中学校校舎のみが焼失しただ­けで、西の丸に着弾した2発は不発あるいはすぐに消火された。また大天守にも焼夷弾が直撃したものの、不発だった[20]など、城本体は奇跡的に炎上を免れた。翌朝、焦土­の中に無事に建つ姫路城を見て、城下の人々は涙したという。

姫路城は貴重な文化財なので爆撃対象とはされなかったという俗説があるが、日本の他の都市やドイツにおける無差別爆撃では歴史的建造物も容赦なく破壊されたことから、その­ような考えはなかったとするのが一般的である（ラングドン・ウォーナーの項も参照）。また、当時のB-29搭乗員は「レーダーから見れば城も輝く点の一つであり、それを歴­史的建造物と認識するのは難しい」と回顧している。

It stood out very much, and because it was clear that put Himeji was a bombing object of the U.S.Army and was done, it was a white wall of Himeji Castle that it hid the main part in the castle under a cover with the dyed net about the force of the army blacking it in the Pacific War. However, the Himeji Castle under returns with the ash in the large air raid on July 3, 1945(1945) in Himeji. Only only the junior high school schoolhouse in the Kitama donjon mark in the castle was burnt down, and two Kitama in Maru in the west was extinguished ..misfire.. at once. Moreover, Shiromototai miraculously escaped blazing up as it was a misfire etc. though the shell hit Mamoru Daiten directly. Himeji Castle that builts safely in the burnt ground is seen, and people under the castle will say next morning that they shed tears.

Because Himeji Castle is a valuable cultural asset, it is general to assume such an idea not to be from the destruction of the landmark in other cities of Japan and carpet bombings in Germany without mercy though there is a popular account of not having been done with the bombing object (Refer to Langdon Warner's paragraph). Moreover, B-29 boarding member at that time recollects it , saying that "It is one of the points that the castle shines, and it is difficult to recognize the landmark it if it sees from radar".
