Although Elton John had grown tired of the public stage by the late 70s, his song writing was as good as ever and his voice was in full maturity. While some of his albums were not as well received by the critics (especially 1979's Victim of Love which was simply an experiment into disco), he was still popping out hits just about every year.

Albums/Songs:

Rock of the Westies - Street Kids, I Feel Like a Bullet (In the gun of Robert Ford)
Blue Moves - Theme from a Non-existent TV Series, Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word (also recommended: Chameleon, Shoulder Holster)
A Single Man - Part Time Love, Madness
Victim of Love - Victim of Love
The Fox - Breaking Down Barriers, Carla/Etude, Chloe, Fascist Faces
21 at 33 - White Lady White Powder, Take Me Back

Some Notes

I tried to sequence the video based on the year the song came out in order to show the evolution of his style/voice. In order to capture the beauty of Sorry Seems To Be the Hardest Word I put it at the end (it was released 1976).

Note also that the slide show matches the year of the song(s) that are playing (unlike the last video). I got a bit more creative and looked for magazine covers.

Personal Favorite is Breaking Down Barriers, the piano playing is not even replicable. White Lady White Powder is an ironic song based on an addiction to cocaine (which EJ was on during its release). I think "Sorry" is somewhat related to his coming out as bisexual (which hurt his spot-light in the media).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Elton John was without question one of the biggest talents in the music industry and still remains a legend today. His career kept his name at the top of the chart throughout the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

Since there are no compilations of Elton John on You Tube I made it my goal to select the best of his music (in my opinion) and build a complete series that includes songs from all of his 70s, 80s, and a few of his 90s albums. There are MANY songs not included but this is just impossible to do given the fact that he was producing 1 or 2 albums each year and was coming up with the songs in a few hours. He has some 500+ songs. While I am including many of his most famous songs and greatest hits, I recognize that his exquisite piano playing also made his music so listenable and will include as many features as possible. I am also trying to touch on his more obscure side - the side of him that is never played on the radio - without losing a sense of his style and talent. This way, even people who were fans of EJ back in the day can appreciate the versatility of his music that extends way beyond "Your Song", "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road", "Levon" , and "Don't Go Breaking My Heart." I have posted 4 series: Part 1: 1970-1976, Part 2: 1976 - 1982, Part 3: 1982-1989, and Part 4: 90s and obscurities.
