If you could only see me, I know exactly where I am
You wouldn't want to be me Oh, I can assure you of that
I'm not the guy to run with, 'cause I'll throw you off the line
I'll break you and destroy you, Given time

He's King Midas with a curse, He's King Midas in reverse
He's King Midas with a curse, He's King Midas in reverse

It's plain to see it's hopeless Going on the way we are
So even though I'd lose you You'd be better off by far
He's not the man to hold your trust, Everything he touches turns to dust
In his hands, Nothing he can do is right
He'd even like to sleep at night But he can't

All he touches turns to dust, All he touches turns to dust
All he touches turns to dust, All he touches turns to dust

I wish someone would find me, And help me gain control
Before I lose my reason, And my soul
He's King Midas with a curse He's King Midas in reverse
He's King Midas with a curse, He's King Midas in reverse

  • I gave the Hollies version 4 stars only because I have heard one other version that beats it hands down, and I have only found it on Wolfgangs Vault, sans live video. It is Graham doing it during a CSN show at Fillmore East, and it't so much better to hear it live, performed by it's composer. He must have had a fight with Joni that day. Such a tragic song, great lyrics!

  • @64delftlover I heard it too and must admit that it's even superior to the Hollies version, so intimate.

  • Steven Soderberg made exelent use of this song in the Limey...thumbs upif you agree!!

  • When this first came out I wasn't too keen on it, but it has grown on me over the years, and it is now one of my favourite Hollies songs. Apparently it was because of a widespread reaction like my initial one that Graham Nash left the Hollies to join with Crosby & Stills, because he was upset that this fine music wasn't properly appreciated (or so it has been claimed on television). With the benefit of hindsight, Graham Nash was right about this song & our reaction to it in the early days.

  • Great Video + Great song + Great Artist = Perfection

    Love This <3

  • Yes, I can certainly hear the violins from "Eleanor Rigby" in the middle, and the crazy ending from "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite" on the end. Check the Label:- EMI. George Martin all over this.

  • @vladkilmer It's not on My version of "4 Way Street", which is probably an Original UK release.

  • Loved it ever since I had it on a B side UK single release... still got it too.

Anyone else hear the hand of George Martin in the mix?, especially at the end...

  • ♪♪♪♪♪♪ absolutely love this ♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♥

  • @NewHopeNashFan Ooof! Graham Nash is great, but Paul McCartney is better. And not to mention Nick Drake!

  • Classic jacket picture. Now imagine it with four accountants in place of the Hollies.

  • @davies511 i heard a version on 4 way street, i think, of graham doing it solo, and it was great! where might i find the one from filmore east?
