This is a quick 3-minute rundown of a typical MoonWorld mission. Four explorers embarking on a simulated Lunar Field mission in the Timocharis region of the moon. They visit 16 field stations on the lunar surface, with geologic conditions varying from flat plains, to precarious crater rims, and mysterious dark lava flows. The explorers sample rocks and drill core samples to learn how this area of the moon formed.

MoonWorld was constructed inside the virtual world of Second Life by Avatrian LLC, for the Center for Educational Technologies (CET), and is sponsored by NASA. An Open Simulator version of MoonWorld is currently under construction and will open soon.

  • @yvettefharris Thanks! MoonWorld is now in Second Life and OpenSim. Those below 18 and in classroom settings can contact moonworld@cet.edu for access. It's an educational tool funded by NASA.
