There are quite a few Vox-in-box pedals doing the rounds at the moment. This is easily the best one I've tried. The AC-Tone is a no frills affair with a Cut knob that reacts the same way as the real thing. It does that Vox 'hair' thing to a T and even has its own inbuilt power supply. Cool. And it's built like a tank. I've been using this one live and it delivers big time. I'm looking forward to exploring more from the Carl Martin range in the near future. Of course, I'll post some videos of said goodies right here on this channel.

In short: You want a Vox-in-a-box? This is the one to go for in stompbox world.

Thanks for watching!

BK2010.

Here is the AC-Tone teamed with a Les Paul Standard and run to my Laney VC50's clean channel.

  • Would it be reasonable to get this instead of splurging on a real ac 30? Would I be losing the jangly rawness of a real Vox at all?

  • @gwugluud Yes, sir, that is the general idea. To turn your existing amp into something that greatly resembles a top specimen AC30. The AC Tone does this better than most.

  • ridiculously good...

  • Loooove that Les Paul!

  • great demo! I have only one question.. what mic are you using for recording? thanks from argentina!

  • @SingleCoilVoodoo I too am searching for a Vox in a box pedal. I've also heard the following pedals discussed on forums:

    - BJF Emerald Green Distortion Machine (EGDM)

    - Menatone Top Boost in a Can (TBIAC)

    - Hip Kitty Oxblood

    - Tech 21 Liverpool (Burgerman does a great demo of this one too)

    - Wampler Cranked AC (more of a Brian May feel)

    - MAD Effects DD30

From what I've actually heard online I'm going with either the AC-Tone or Lovepedal Englishman. Hope that helps!

  • @SingleCoilVoodoo no problem man ;D

  • @Acronso Thanks for the direction. I love the Vox sound, but unfortunately, do not own a Vox. The "Vox in a box" could be an answer for me.

  • @SingleCoilVoodoo the love pedal english man for example

  • Great demo!!! It is always a good day when I see videos posted by the Burgerman! Although, my 3-year old son would rather see videos with your daughter...she makes him laugh.

On a side note...what are some of the other "vox in a box" pedals? I have been looking for this sound. That AC-Tone is fantastic.
