how do i use the motion blur effect? final cut the bcc motion blur effect has an option to 'smear' but when i click it nothing happens, i have to use the normal final cut motion blur & its not very good..

You turn on motion blur in Motion 4 under the Render pop-up menu at the top right of the Canvas. You can adjust the shutter angle and number of samples by going to Edit > Project Properties and clicking on the back tab.

It's the graphics card that is most important for Motion, not the CPU. Consider the ATI Radeon 5870.

Would you be so kind as to elaborate on your computer specs? Im considering the jump to Mac Pro, and would hope that my rendering performance is SIGNIFICANTLY improved, as would be expected.

Wow that looks so much batter than the method I used. I always just used the Motion Blur Filter in FCP and Motion to make the effect and no matter how much I messed around with the settings it never looked as good as this method. Very hepful, Thanks a heap!

BTW, bugs like that are quite usual in FCS. I hope Apple fix them in the next awesome Final Cut Studio :)

Here's something I ran into in FCP the other day. Playback in the timeline (after rendering) some edits would seem to hang on a few frames, but when rendered out into the final render it does not show up. Also playing one frame at a time it does not show up either. Only on Playback. iMacOSX4Gb ram. Thanks Mark.
