Once known as Paris of the East, is now seen as a role model for China. This is how most Chinese see their country`s future. Modern skyscrapers of concrete, steel and glass with a vivid city life of a 20 million metropolis. Today there are more skyscrapers in Shanghai than there are in New York.....
But you can still find the romantic old parts with sleepy alleys in the old quarter.....but you have to hurry, except the proud colonial buildings, everything else is close to extinction. Go for a try!

Why is it always americans that speak of this, and have you even been to China, or ever understand even vaguely what is going on? A dollar might seem like nothing to you in your big boy SUV, or whatever you get by working 2 hours a day and making alot of money . But for the poor farmers in China, a dollar (7.3 yuan) to feed their family everyday. And guess what? Many foreign factories have even had to close becuase of new laws. The normal Chinese people aren't poor, the american people are RICH!
