  • What can the X1000 do that you can't do on Windows I'm curious. I like the idea of this. I heard that the OS is many times faster than Windows but then it comes down to software etc. You guys got a long way to go. How much are these things anyways? Safe. :-)

  • @coolshit28

Thanks for the interest - but is very expensive as something produced very rare in small quantities with also expensive components (there is no other desktop computer with Power Efficient CPU) - about 2200 euros for complete system with OS. OS is blazingly fast, but lack some of the features and many apps as Win7. However, its fully user controlled, responsive, easy to backup etc. AmigaOS article on Wiki might help. Big plus is programmable third CPU so there is no potential limit

  • @coolshit28

Since AmigaOS 4 will be further developed as well as apps for it (such as Firefox port is on the way), meanwhile machine can boot Linux with nice apps as Open Office, Firefox, GIMP ... closer to Windows productivity apps. Not a machine for average Win user.Rare one, but mighty system. Additional XMOS programmable CPUs can be added in a cluster, so there is almost no limit of its potential + two lightweight OSs in terms of resource consumption = serious geeks paradise :-)

  • Well done A-Eon! Fantastic job on the X1000.

Now, I just wonder what those 2 mystery hardware projects are ...

My guesses: 1) a desktop 2) a laptop. Probably both built on the Freescale P4/P5 chips. Hope the desktop version will have the CPU in a socket, since IIRC the P4/P5s are pin-compatible --> easy upgrades!!

  • @JB1912JB

Net top will be done without A-EON> Hyperion will do OS 4.1 port to Lime nettop.

One for sure is XMOS on PCI card for older OS4 boards and other ... we will see.

Maybe if X1000 sells OK it will be another desktop or laptop sys

  • 34:33 Coupon.. lol It amazing how much this community has been trough to get to here.

  • @amigang

First Encouters (First Contact but love to call it like Elite3) sold & shipping with OS 4.1.5.

    Another important milestone

Well hardware was (once again) ready before AmigaOS 4 was for it ... but they will have to "catch up now".

That is the only "earlybird", even as expensive as it is, X1000 is what is it supposed to be in the end

  • @amigang

Yes, sadly, that experience has caused a lot of mistrust in X1000 cause, and I am glad "its done"

  • 24:10 early bird...worried LOL
