  • No group of people from one perspective can "take" or "take back" the church. Conservative or Liberal, Man or Woman, Adult or Child, Black or White, Republican or Democrat, Gay or Straight...Christ's arms on the cross are opened to all people & all who believe in His lordship rightly have a place at His table to commune with Him & other people, regardless of what "labels" they, or the person next to them, may or may not carry. No group of people can "take back" the UMC when it is Christ's alone.

  • Did John Wesley lead a movement to save the Anglican church, of which he was an Anglican priest? No. He started something new within the bounds of the church, that in his estimation, was better than the Anglican tradition. Stop trying to "take back" a corrupt body and start something new that is not so corrupt, like Wesley did. If such an approach was good enough for John Wesley, why is not good enough for United Methodists.

  • UM pastor here for 30 years.

"Taking back the UMC" is impossible, dude.

It just needs to die....it's largely dead anyway...just let it go.

God created it...and he let it die and from the ashes build

    something much better.

Narcissistic Personality Disorder: it is rampant within the hierarchy

of the church and if you think they're going to let you "take it back"...

    wishful thinking.

  • Scientology is no less logical then Christianity or any other religion for that matter. All religion is malarkey. REligion can be good when it is helping people not when it is trying to take away rights

  • Nothing like comparing liberals and homosexuals to terrorists to show how loving and christ like you are.

  • Sounds like someone needs to become a baptist. He would fit in perfectly. The love scaring people into a frenzy.

  • My neighbors who are methodist should read that book. I don't think they would believe what is happening to the church unless they read it themselves
