A female detective with flawless American English, a black catsuit, and perfectly done hair beats up a butler who can break tables with karate chops, but lacks the ability to aim and block. After kicking ass, she checks her hair before showing a couple her spoils of war.

  • I was about 11 when this show came out, I remember Anne Francis being interviewed in tv guide about her Karate training, and I also remember she badly injured her back in a fight scene, I am male, but when I saw what she could do I wanted to study Karate and have now for 37 years, Thanks Anne (Honey), has anyone noticed there are now more female or male heros on TV?

  • I love this video!Just show a girls priorities before she goes out the front door!!

  • Incidentally, this is from the series' pilot episode (although it was broadcast on December 10, 1965, three months after its premiere), "The Grey Lady".

  • @fromthesidelines More a case of having been "written out" by the end of 30 episodes. What more could they do with the principal characters that they hadn't already done? By the end, with rate exception, the episodes were too formulaic. (And you could see it early in the series, too, by the time you get to episodes 8, 9, 10). That much said, it was a good series, with good principals (Anne Francis, John Ericson, Irene Hervey, and, of course, Bruce), and some good episodes and guest turns.

  • @TurnOffTard It was. Sadly it only lasted one season. About 30 episodes. I love it still to this date.

  • I don't think Charlie's ANgels ever had a full contact fight like in this magnitude.

  • R.I.P. Anne Francis ((1931- 2 Jan. 2011) . . . and too her tall handsome male antagonist in this scene, veteran Hollywood lead* and character actor Kevin McCarthy (1914- 9/11/2010).

*E.g., c. 1957 "Invasion of the Body Snatchers."

  • I like the way she fixes her hair after the fight.

  • So true seductive hunter. But it is not like it is the double throughout the whole scene. Just the fight.

  • ABC had just acquired the rights to The Avengers and decided that two butt-kicking females was one too many. Plus the fact that it was cheaper to buy the UK import than continue production costs on a domestic show.
