bjj is very heavily influenced by early twentieth century judo groundwork, which isnt what modern judo is like. The brazilians further developed newaza way beyond what judo had by concentrating on that aspect to the detriment of tachiwaza. The aim of bjj was defence against a striking opponent which judo never adressed at all.I can think of many bjj techs not on kodokan syllabus and not in kosen judo either.

"muay thai and bjj are the most efective martial arts of all time" - innermage

They've had good success in MMA situations. Respect where it's due but no more than that.

Yes, nothing will get you taken seriously like calling other person asshole (all caps, no less). No wonder people refer to Youtube commentators as Internet scums.

I wasn't aware inventing moves was required to create a new art. Why don't you first show me a single move invented by Kano that did not exist already in classic Japanese Jujutsu? It is the philosophy and focus that makes a new art, not a "new move." And you can't deny in modern judo all newaza is practically extinct.

Ouri Eri jimme, Uchi Mata, Tai Otoshi, and Harai Goshi are just an example of many of the throws that Jigoro Kano Sensei developed through the years ASSHOLE :P

Are you telling me classic jujutsu schools did not have those throws before Kano? Be serious. Are you also saying without those throws, judo would be just jujutsu? I really doubt that.

Again, moves are not what makes an art. Boxing is not kickboxing without kicks, Freestyle and Greco-roman are distinct even if their moves are nearly identical. It's the philosophy and focus. bjj believes ground game is more important than take-downs, which is exactly the opposite of what Kodokan believes.

all those throws were in jj styles which kano or his senior students had studied. The success of kodokan judo was in the importance given to randori .

How come you have been training for 4 months and you don't know how to put an armbar from the guard, or escape from it?

I know a few escapes from the gaurd actually.. I have even given a few arm bars at my gym.. but I basically get submitted strictly from arm bars only :( I actually know alot and very good at a few more advanced techniques like the gogo, omaplata etc. But my weak spot is the arm bar. My BJJ instructor is the very best in my major city, hands down. Other dojo's dont even come close.
