I agree it's unfair.. in a year i'm gonna have to go to Griffith because it's the ONLY college in Dublin (that I know of) that offers photography.. DCU Trinity and UCD doesnt.. it's recession I can't AFFORD to pay 6,500eu per year so what am I gonna do without a grant?I dont want to go to Griffith but it's my only option, yet I cant afford it!.. See? not everyone CHOSES to go, it's their ONLY option. Anyone knows a college with grant in Dublin that offers photography courses?..

well tbh, i don't feel sorry for any of you, American colleges (state colleges for example) are minimum $18,000 per year, and if you go outside your state, you're looking at minimum $36,000.00 per year..free college in Ireland...get the points on the leaving cert and you'll have no bother!

Again I have to say "people from any walk of life" can get third level education via achieving a high leaving certificate.
Thus they are not forced to go private.
If they make the cut they should be able afford the free education which will be awarded to them
Grants therefore should only be for those who have studied hard and didnt require private college.
No student is "forced" to attend private college. They either made the cut or they didnt. It may sound harsh Sean but its true.
Thanks

Hi Ceril,
Thanks for the comment, but I think you are missing the point of what grants are in place for.
Grants are not a reward for those with a higher IQ, if they where they would be rewarded on an academic basis, not a financial one.
Grants are in place to help students get the most out of their education, so people from any walk of life can go onto third level education.
