There is no 'way' to write a story. Everyone has to fine there own path to writing.
I have been writing short stories since the age of about 7 and I'm turning 15 soon- so there is a bit of experience that I am talking from.
I write without any restrictions such as the ones you mentioned. I also disagree with what you said about setting aside time for writing- you should never ever write with a time frame because it then just become tedious. You should write when you feel like it.
