Month of July is celebrated as 'THE NUTRITION MONTH' in the Philippines! At the center stage is the City of Koronadal spearheading the events with cooking competition along the 27 Barangays this time promoting different menu created out of the native chicken.
Recipes from this local fowl made headlines as main dish and cooking of various delicacies derived from this readily available bird. The breast feeding and milk expression competitions were equally promoted courtesy of our nursing mothers and sucking babies!
Flashback: This shows how 'food-rich' is our place, South Cotabato in terms of the basic foodstuffs. The place is blest with healthy growing plants, trees
and number of edible birds and mammals for human consumption! All year round, our child-bearing women are being fed with this vitamin-rich food, naturally the babies or the nursing infants received equal amount of energy-building stuff for growth.
The perfect health shape of our lactating mothers in general signifies the general healthy condition of the growing children. Breast milk, this priceless commodity from the Mother, serves as the very source of energy for the nursing babies. Stored by the woman within their system, the colostrum and succeeding secretions sucked by our little kids, thereby promoting and maintaining the general healthy condition, protection, and excites the growth hormones of our younger generation!....That's how rich we are!
WHEN THE MOTHER STARVES THE BABY DWARFS! Not unlike in other countries, where 'the bugle call' for humanitarian crises was already sounded due to mounting famine, severe malnutrition and death due to starvation!
We are not bragging down here, excuse me, our place SOUTH COTABATO AND MINDANAO are overflowing with foodstuff and surpluses of basic humans needs!
FYI: Here in Mindanao, Philippines, we have abundant staple food, over-supply of ready-to-eat vegetables, fruits, plants, birds, animals, edible insect,e.g. locust and potable water for drinking.
The heaviest concentration of Flora and Fauna is right upon our doorsteps and backyard! THEREFORE, NO FAMINE AND EXCELLENT GENERAL NUTRITIONAL STATE of our PEOPLE!
The green vegetation, the rain forest, fertile soil and local efforts of the inhabitants to CULTIVATE and grow these plants contributed to the well-nourished status of the province and the whole part of Mindanao!
Compared to other countries; the dry, arid and rain-deficient Middle-east, Africa and other Saharas' made life difficult to many of their people for lack of these basic commodities which are VERY ABUNDANT IN OUR COUNTRY PHILIPPINES!
We say, we are the very chosen people of God because God does not allow us to starve! Wanna bet? So, you must be jealous by this time, why not visit us here in Mindanao and invest your money! Let's promote tourism and abhor violence..!
Lets help our country move forward, Not Backward! August 12, 2011: At this time, 75% of the whole Africa is without rainfalls. This means, few areas received water from nature! Now, when this kind of 'drought' continues, famine shall enveloped most part of Africa. The UNHCR declared already the highest level HUMAN CATASTROPHE especially in Somalia.
Aside from Ethnic violence, natural calamity such as too much heat send people starving for food. Hot and arid climate like this, they are not able to grow plants, no food for the gracing animals and the looming death is not far-fetched! What a horrible situation! Ten of thousands of African people shall gonna die soon!
The United Nations are now doing their job of giving them food, shelter and clothing. But I think, this place, African starvation will continue until such time that THE NEEDED RAIN WATER COMES FOR THE RESCUE. The UN could not sustain the wide expands of humanitarian crises, the scale of the present Africa for too long!
Each country got their own share of economic woes too, the high-speed downturns happening in the USA and the rest of the donors like the PRESENT LONDON RIOTS hurt the stakeholders even more! I believe, we needed miracles from the GREATEST SUPPLIER, GOD! Suffering comes only when we turn ourselves from God! Believe me or not!! I guess, I'm alone praying for much needed rain, food, medicine and shelter for Africans!
