Hey congrats on 1 million views! And thanks again for allowing me to attach my guitar playing tribute to =VH=, it has been very helpful for me. This band is my all-time favorite band, and Ed is my all-time fave guitar player. The first concert I ever saw was their 1984 tour in Los Angeles. I wasn't even 13 years old yet! They were the hometown heroes returning for a big party... lots of chicks flashing tits and a stage full of amplifiers - talk about heaven.

I cant believe kool and the gang are opening for van halen in 2012...probably the only guys that would put up with david lee roth

Eddie sounded better back in these early days. IMHO its because he used Marshalls for his "brown sound". I think in the late 80's he switched to Peavy and lost some tone.

@PDXguitarfreak Brother, Edward is a favourite guitar player to generations of us at this point. Welcome to the fraternity ;) The man forever altered his instrument. Simply said, God, is Ed ;)

Oh those harmonies, Michael Anthony really needs to go back to Van Halen. Its just not the same without him.

Back when Eddie still had his brown sound. These guys were awesome.....a word I never use.

Although I viewed this on MTV when it was first aired, I come back to it and get the chills, with hair standing up on my arms. It takes me back to when this was fresh and exciting to me. I love this song and the energy captured for a grand finale is incredible. I enjoy how Eddie goes back into the main riff after starting the beginning making it different from the studio version and to this day I play it the same way.

@shanekelly55 No it's not dumbass it's Oakland. The US festival was in 83, and unchained was the 2nd song on that setlist and in this one it's 1981 and the last song on the setlist.
