Hello y'all. I am trustful88. Although I quit the piano 8.5-9 years ago, I am looking to get back into it. My final piece was Pathetique by Beethoven. I played about 5 measures of his first movement at my last recital, and quit the piano since then. It was a mistake. Don't ever quit!

Now, I am trying to pick it back up and need help without having to pay for it :)

I just learned this piece (kind of). I have been playing it since late August, 2006. This is attempt #1 to play the song in full.

Attempt #2 will come after I practice more. No time to practice ever right now with work and business. Expect a better version late Sept-Oct.

After perfecting the notes, I will work on the feeling. I realize the middle section requires very "pp," but I got nervous so I kept playing it harder to make sure I didn't miss a key. Accuracy first!

I got really tired by the end of the song and my forearms got sore as hell. I need to intake more protein and steroids.

I realize that it sounds very off, and many mistakes are made. There are tempo problems, but most of the tempo errors you encounter are from the compression lag, and my poor playing.

I have memorized the piece almost 100% (primary goal).

Now, I will work on the follwing:
1. Tempo
2. Mistakes
3. Loudness

Please give me feedback. Please don't state shit like "oh, you suck" or "learn to play." I appreciate criticism that will HELP me with my playing, because I do not have time for a teacher at the moment because I am trying to launch something that is taking too much time (entrepreneurship).

Thanks folks. Keep on practicing!

Oh, another excuse (hehe) is that I didn't warm up when I started playing! I ran out of tape to record my later attempt after warming up, so it might suck more. Oh well :( I was playing this in a super small room at Cornell University. They have piano rooms that are the SIZE OF THE PIANO, literally, so the sound resonates very strongly. Thus, parts where I attempted to play PPP sounded like they were in FORTE loudness! Thus, ignore the loudness until I can get a better recording in an open area. Thanks~

  • More protein and steroids! ha ha. I have to play this on June 7th. Are you still learning it? Work on the notes that are staccato (no pedal). Peace dude. How is your business coming along?

  • I am much stronger now (physically) from the gym. Unfortunately it weighs down on your ability to jump chords!

  • i am amazed. after reading your movie info, i thought you would butcher the piece. with all the other factors written in there (small room, poor recording quality, etc) i thought it would be atrocious. you have FAR surpassed the level i would have EVER expected you to play at. i just began learning the piece a week ago and truly appreciate what sound youve been able to come up with in such short notice after being out of practice for so long. amazing. work a little more and you'll have it down!

  • Thanks buddy. I wish I had more time to practice :) Appreciate the good words - keep it up!

  • all you need is some pratice... YOu have the talent.

  • Thanks! Once I have more time, I will practice and get my latest version up :)

  • i suggest listen to how others play it: valentina lisitsa, gilels, richter, and nikolai lugansky. they have slightly different interpretations but i believe if you pick up all their individual strong points its gonna turn out great.

  • beginning was a little too fast and the second page a little to slow compared to the first and then the 3rd and 4th page way too fast and some wrong chords and such

  • i forgot to add in my last comment,

you should not rush through alot of it

because i noticed that is when you mess up

thanks for letting me give you positive criticism!

  • a few missed chords

    but overall is an A+

you are so talented you should have ever quit

its great that your building your interest back up

  • I played this at my schools showcase.
