Vande Mataram from Bankim Chandra Chattopadyaya's "Anand Mutt" remains the classic Indian national song. This particular song was sung by Hemant Kumar Mukhopadyaya who was also the Music Director.

"Vande Mataram" was the Mantra, reciting which numerous Indians from Punjab to Tamilnaad braved death and fought the British occupation. Composed in simple Sanskrit, this is a national song of India and any day most nationalist Indians rate this song above "Jana Gana Mana", a song penned by Tagore welcoming King George as "Bharata Bhagya Vidhaata-Arbitrator of India's Destiny".

The Islamist veto and the nehruvian appeasement of islamism prevented "Vande Matharam" from becoming the National Anthem of India. And in a remarkable parody of history, we have a song welcoming a foreign dignitary, as the national anthem. nehru as the first prime minister of India did enormous damage to the soul of India. nehru's foot prints can be seen in most of India's social, economic, defence and foreign affairs problems.

One can not help noticing the superiority of this composition of "Vande Mataram", the complete one to the subsequent compositions which in comparison appear trite. Later compositions on account of composer's poor knowledge of Sanskrit and Indian culture could never reproduce the spirit and magic of Bankim's immortal work.

  • I love this song, as rendered by Lata Mangeshkar in the 70s. That was set to a more bracing beat. I gifted myself on my 24th birthday when I learned this song independently. My parents were surprised at first but my mom encouraged me soon after. Even as a muslim my mom and I diligently worked to encourage awareness of the essense of this song in our family.

  • 1. This song was rendered in 1950s not 70s.

    2. Your approach reiterates the position that, problem is not with muslim people many of who place humanism above their ideological moorings. The problem indeed is with i-slam and its totalitarian and exclusivist world view.

  • I refused to sing this song so I left India forever. Muslims have NO place in India. On that we all agree. We need to convince the rest of the Muslims in India to get out and seek a life of peace and dignity elsewhere.

  • The problem primarily is not with muslims. The problem is with the ideology of i-slam which has blatant totalitarian approach to subjugate non muslims.

Golwalkar, Savarkar and other Hindu nationalists did not talk about final solution on the lines of what islam or nazism prescribe. They indeed wanted to convert muslims out of i-slam.

Killing muslims will also be against Hindu/Buddhist/Jain ethos that India has. It can not and should not behave like an islamic totalitarian state.
