The song The Balance from the album A Question Of Balance.

Lyrics:

After he had journeyed,
And his feet were sore,
And he was tired,
He came upon an orange grove
And he rested
And he lay in the cool,
And while he rested, he took to himself an orange and tasted it,
And it was good.
And he felt the earth to his spine,
And he asked, and he saw the tree above him, and the stars,
And the veins in the leaf,
And the light, and the balance.
And he saw magnificent perfection,
Whereon he thought of himself in balance,
And he knew he was.

Just open your eyes,
And realize, the way it's always been.
Just open your mind
And you will find
The way it's always been.
Just open your heart
And that's a start.

And he thought of those he angered,
For he was not a violent man,
And he thought of those he hurt
For he was not a cruel man
And he thought of those he frightened
For he was not an evil man,
And he understood.
He understood himself.

Upon this he saw that when he was of anger or knew hurt or felt fear,
It was because he was not understanding,
And he learned, compassion.

And with his eye of compassion.
He saw his enemies like unto himself,
And he learned love.
Then, he was answered.

Just open your eyes,
And realize, the way it's always been.
Just open your mind
And you will find
The way it's always been.
Just open your heart
And that's a start.

  • I love the way the Blues mixed talking lyrics with song. No one has ever done it as well. I've been enjoying their music for over 40 yrs. I never tire of them.

  • They're one of the only bands I even know that did that, and definitely the best at doing that!

  • I go in streaks-I listen to MB alot for a while and then get away from it. I am not sure why, but when I come back to it, it is always like good medicine for me.

  • Wake up to the morning, turn your head and look around, and start to BE YOU. Many listened to their Top 40 hits, but only a few were tuned in to the esoteric whole of this holy, holy, group.

  • Pure light, yet the way that it has always been is merely one way, on the way to nowhere -- other worlds are within us all waiting to begin

  • @TheSubstituteGnome If you haven't already check out Jeff Waynes "War Of The Worlds" (original). Justin Hayward was in it, amoung many other great musicians.

  • Yeah, I had that same LSD trip a couple times too....

  • @TheSubstituteGnome timeless poetry, timeless music, there will never be another Moody Blues

  • Moody Blues were so uplifting.

  • Love it.

  • One of my favourites...

  • Grandiose, haunting, and profound. Gotta love the Moody Blues :)

  • As much as I love you, Jesus loves you so much more. He is God. Pours out love, grace, kindness, friendship, forgiveness. Oh trust Him. Ask Him into your heart.
