Massive Crack in Ice Shelf - Pine Island Glacier

In October, 2011, NASA's Operation IceBridge discovered a major rift in the Pine Island Glacier in western Antarctica. This crack, which extends at least 18 miles and is 50 meters deep, could produce an iceberg more than 800 square kilometers in size. IceBridge scientists returned soon after to make the first-ever detailed airborne measurements of a major iceberg calving in progress. Music by Ishq - "bhakti"

@danielc121162 True, because it's already in the water. But the ice on Greenland is a different situation since the ice is on land. So since the planet is warming up, this will eventually effect sea level, though hard to tell how much.. best wishes

@davieheartattack put an Ice cube in a glass of water and see if the level rises when it melts *hint* the volume doesn't change in fact the the level may actually decrease as the the space occupied inside the ice that is not water vanishes
