THIS IS THE ORIGINAL World's Ugliest Dog Contest (R) Video ... Originally produced for Community Access in Santa Rosa, CA, about 2001 ... it was a 10 minute or so piece devoted to the dogs, their owners and the very few camera guys who came from the local News organizations. The best thing they did, on that day, was to let the camera people right on the stage. Let's get some close-ups of these critters.

As Brent says, even the dogs knew where the "real publicity was."

A couple of years later, when the internet was finally ready to allow someone to encode video, make a file out of it that someone else could download, the progressive folks at the Sonoma-Marin Fair said yes to the idea of re-editing that piece, adding a few snippets, which is all that was available, and posting it on the internet.

Then came Animal Planet
And then came YouTube
When it was suggested that the Sonoma-Marin Fair wanted to do the same kind of thing the following year, they became aware, the whole thing has gotten "better."

Now you upload that video to YouTube ... people don't even need to have the software and they'll be able to watch it right there on YouTube. And you can even put it on your website.

The following year, of course, things had gotten better still. More people knew what YouTube was. More people had high speed internet and YouTube created something called the video player.

Not ONLY could you "embed" this video, and the next video on your website, you could "embed" anybody else's video as well. The World's Ugliest Dog Contest Video Player was born ... as was ... The Chicken Channel, The Cow Channel, The Swine Channel, The Headliner Channel, All's Fair and many more. What began as a project for the Sonoma-Marin Fair became another 7 Day A Week 24 Hour Primarily Positive TV Show On SoCooLTV

The Virtual Fair was born.

Now, nobody would ever watch it ALL? Would they?
But, more and more people watch, whether the fair is coming or going or not. As one fair General Manager said ... I'm not sure what it's ALL about but visit the website and You Will Not Be Bored

Now, the virtual fair is also famous for web design.

2008 Contest Was No Different

This year's contest and dog's set new records including a YouTube Video that went viral IMMEDIATELY! "Gus" was elected The Winner Of The 2008 World's Ugliest Dog Contest, the video the next day went viral, 2500 views per hour, "Gus" was on two international television shows (New York, New York) and designated a patriot on the O'Reilly Factor!
