Rik Newman on Sky Sports

This is me, yep me, Rik, appearing during the first bit of Sky Sport's coverage of the Coors Student Tour event at Sheffield Uni in 2006. As the very true story goes, we saw the TV crew arrive and I got up from the table to get a beer and exclaimed "I'm off to get on the telly!"... But I did not really expect my joke statement to prove so accurate! They actually came up to me & said "hey can we talk to you", I said yes & literally a moment later I had a camera in my face.
Marvel as they assume I am a student & football novice! (bwahaha, the fools). Wow at the fact I've got up only a few hours before this with something of a hangover & haven't actually washed off my makeup from Corp properly from the previous night. Recoil from my horrifically bad hair day (well I hadn't bothered..)! Amaze at how stupid everyone else appears on the camera compared to me... :P (well, IMO! ^_^). Laugh as I purposefully jump the presenter with the cheerleaders question before he had the chance to set me up to look like a fool (I was sure he was going to try to wind me up about it). ;)

It's been agreed that myself and Paul Hughes clearly ought to presenting the US football on sky sports next year. :) We'd be miles better, so says everyone who's seen our football & general banter!
