I Normally do not post a song here that is already posted unless I have a better quality copy, or a Different version.
This counts as a Different version.
Here is the KVK-7 song "De Lek" From the Dec-04 Concerts at Carre` As performed by Jim Bakkum.
I hope that you enjoy this song as much as I do.
Sorry, But I do not remember who originally translated this song. If you did it for me, Please let me know so I can give you Credit.
As Always, If you would like a Complete Text File copy of this (or any of the other translations that I have Collected), or would like to help translate other KVK songs, Please Contact me.

Here are the Basic English Only lyrics.

De Lek / The Lek (a river in Nederland)

Before, last year
I would go with my father
Riding our bikes along the Lek
Over very narrow dikes
Where you had to be careful
Because the cars would drive like crazy
And sometimes we would sit down on a fence
With the cows behind us
And the ships in front of us
And we would say nothing
Because we would understand each other so well
And my father would have a smoke every now and then
Because my father was a heavy smoker

After that, still last year
My father got ill
That was quite unexpected
He stayed at home for a fortnight
But he kept being sick
So they eventually took him to the hospital
And it turned out to be much worse than he expected
At first he stayed in a ward
With three others
But soon he got a room
For him alone
And the disease got hold of him more and more
Until he died in the night

Almost every day
I think about my father
And I have to count to ten
Try to get hold of myself
And push away my tears
Because I think its childish to be sad
But I find myself crying at count seven
And my mother sees me
Blowing my nose again
Says: Please try, boy
Do something fun, go outside
Maybe take your bike to the Lek?
But I never want to see it again in my life

  • bah.... helemaal verneukt

Kippenvel!
