  • I just got finished using this technique for the first time on some lord of the rings heroes. They turned out really great. I gave up trying to get an almond shape and just made a horizontal white line and then a vertical black line in the center. I had to use a magnifying glass and a 5/0 brush. It's not as easy as It looks, but the payoff is worth it. I,m sure after doing It a few more times It will get a lot easier. Thanks again.

  • Even for me, its still a bit rough. Many times, I've got to do it 3 or 4 times to get it right.

As an extra tip, try finding some models sculpted by Werner Klocke (reaper's got some, and werner's got an entire line called freebooter miniatures). The eyes on all his figures are very large almond shapes and absolutely wonderful for practicing eye painting.

  • hey chris i was wondering why your vids turn black sometimes when you are talking so we cant hear the things u said finished. why does this happen? do you make it so?

  • It's me editing the video. Sometimes I say stuff that I determine later will not help anyone, so I figure it's best to leave it out and stick to the parts of the video that will actually matter and help you guys be better painters.

  • You know, it took me nearly 3 years to figure that out!

I don't know why all the books try to tell you to do it AFTER you paint all the rest of the face...its just too darn complicated.

  • Hey Chris, You're a natural born teacher. Keep the vids coming. You're always clear and concise with describing what you're doing...Really valuable to anyone trying to learn.. Thanks Jim

  • Appreciate the compliment. Thanks for watching as well.

  • Very helpful, thankfully I didn't mess up any of my flesh tones (I found this video after I started). This was the easiest method I found for painting Infinity the Game figures, tiny, tiny eyes...

  • great pull out technique!

  • Great work. I am going to be doing some mini soon and this will really help Thanks.

  • I've been having so much trouble with eyes. Thank you for doing this vid!

  • thanks to you!

  • This is great, thanks.

  • I tried this. I think I made a little mistake though, as the black outline, thats just a thin line on your models, came out like a thick emo-ish eyeliner on mine. After trying, and retrying I gave up and skipped the first step, and instead I throw a thin wash of black around the eye after I've done the eyeball and all that.

  • Last model example looks like liono from thundercats, lol!

  • Throw some ahbawls on yer figger!
