Adorable Hattie McDaniel as Aunt Tempy in Walt Disney's Song of the South (1946) cooking up good eatin' and singin' "Sooner or Later Your Gonna Be Comin' Around". Also starring James Baskett as Uncle Remus. Songs and critters from this movie are featured in the Disney ride "Splash Mountain".

I think a simple psychological experiment should be done on these channels that upload these types of videos. Over ninety-eight percent of these channels identify themselves with Caucasians either through text or profile pictures. Outside of their computer, these men and women who created these channels do not interact with African-Americans on any sort of social level. What reason would they have to upload these videos? What message are they trying to convey?

For me, it is because I love these movies and actors and actresses. I do interact with African-Americans everyday. I can appreciate talent, no matter what color. It is a shame that you chose to stereo type people based on color.

My point was to explai nt oyou the film will NEVER be released to DVD by corporate decision made by Disney, Instead of saying "that's shame, thank you".you come back at me withan argument about what we could ban etc. You are trying toconince ME this film needs to be released. I do not work for aDisney. I cant help you. I just gave you the information regarding rhe policy on this film to DVD. I suggest you sent off a letter to Disney DVD chairman out in Burbank.

Just because Disney had some bad policies it should not reflect poorly on this film. It should be judged simply for what it is otherwise you might as well ban anything from this era. The dvd needs to be released with bonus features explaining that these stories were collected by Joel Harris in the 1870s from former slaves. He created Remus' character to tell these stories as they were told to him by former slaves. Harris promoted black equality, suffrage, education and reconstruction.

Diisney has stated many times "the Song of the South" will NEVER be released to DVd. by admission they wouldn;t hire anyone no nwhite in film roles except maids or servants or "Uncle Remus". Walt Disney despised Jews, and the company had an unwritten policy against hiring of non whites. They are now ashamed of Song of the South and have buried it..sorry-but thats the way it is. DUMBO cant be shown on teleivision due to the Black Crow scenes in which they talk in Jive. Racists ran the movie Biz.

So very true. Disney needs to release this movie again in honor of Hattie and James.

After this was removed from WDW's Splash Mountain ride soundtrack, it still plays in the queue. Just an instrumental (around 2ish minutes) version plays in the area. I believe by the shop post ride.
