Austin Scott (GA-08) today voted in favor of the Middle Class Tax Relief & Job Creation Act of 2011. This legislation includes important measures which would, among other things, put the plan for the Keystone Pipeline back in motion, includes the payroll tax cut, extends and reforms unemployment insurance and provides a two year Medicare payment solution for our doctors and seniors. In an unprecedented move, the Republican led House of Representatives has paid for the bill in its entirety. Upon passage, the bill moves to the Senate where Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) is expected to bring it up for a vote later this week. In an effort to further explain this multi-issue bill, Rep. Scott recorded the following video:

  • Federal employees do not deserve to have their pay frozen. We didn't create the funding problem, why do we have to pay for it. We already do our part. You represent a huge district of Federal Employees. This is a slap in the face to your constituents. Fight for us, don't place the burden of the cost on us.
