My videos show how to knit a sweater step by step, but they don't teach you how to knit. May I encourage you to start with a simpler project? A scarf would be much more doable.
On verypinkknits' channel she has a video series on how to knit a scarf: the first one is at youtu(dot)be/UMadNYkKLiI . You could also search on youtube for other knitting videos, maybe looking for "first scarf project". Good luck!

I am a new knitter. I am currently working on a vest for my daughter. They are flat pieces that will need joining. When I have finished I want to tackle this. I would love to have a sweater that fit me that was the color I want it to be instead of having to make do. Thank you so much for posting this.

Yes! That is exactly what I hope to do--give knitters the tools to create their own designs. I hope eventually to host a gallery where knitters can send in pictures of the sweaters they've created using my system. That's when the real fun starts--when somebody takes an idea you had and makes it their own.
