My doctors switched me from Haldol to Thioridazine. I hope it helps my tourette's some.

  • Seriously stay away from antipsychotics!!! They are horrible!!!!

  • In my opinion mellaril (thioridazine)is most certainly a very dangerous medicine.I am saying this out from personal experience. After having taken two 25mg of the said substance i first lost my sight then my hearing and my ability to speak i became complety paralized and thought i was dying,i tried to call out for help but it was like someone had pulled the cable and no sound came forth! My father died while being on a 900 mg daily dosage.

  • how's it going with these meds now?

  • Good luck with the Mellaril. I don't know what dose of haloperidol you were taking but I found that a very small daily dose of haloperidol (.25 to .5 mg.) in combination with a small dose of alprazolam and an SNRI did the job for me. I also had to take a sleeping pill (zolpidem) at night. But in addition to Tourette's I aso have severe OCD.

It's tricky finding the right cocktail. Best of luck to you!
