Component and groups are a great way to keep your Google SketchUp models organized. They can be edited by double clicking on them. A dashed line indicates that you are in a group or component "edit mode". Clicking in model space will exit out of the component edit. The outliner is a great tool to help you visualize your nested groups and components. You can easily edit a nested component by double clicking on its name. You can even un-nest a component by dragging its name.
