  • This book opens up space for us to talk about the emotional processes that workers may experience when involved in complex work to keep children safe; exploring the child's world involves negotiating with care-givers; how do we get close enough to form a view of the child's lived experiences but do so in a way that is ethical. fair, compassionate but persistent and using 'good authority'. Its a very helpful portrayal and analysis of this and offers hope and insight!

  • Very down to earth and sensitive. What one would expect from Harry Ferguson. A book about the nitty gritty every day aspects of professionals.

  • Very insightful. I mean, I know the author would say this but the book really did help me get into the nitty-gritty of the practice. The chapter on doorsteps is one that I've read more than once, I can tell you!
