Walnut and Wenge 5 String Singlecut Bass -

Just finished another bass. Still have some wiring issues to correct and shielding is in order, but sounds sweet for my taste, pickup location is great as favor the bridge pickup mostly.

Specs are- Walnut body w/ Claro walnut top. Wenge neck with maple stringers. Macassar ebony fingerboard. Claro walnut truss and electronics cover. Satin Polyurethane finish. Passive electronics, bart deep tone single coil pickups in oversized EMG cover so you can move them around inside, very cool. Hipshot hardware. Strung E-C of course.

Hey how did the walnut wood treat you? I'm having a pretty simple custom bass made (Basically a J-Bass copy with Walnut wood and custom neck from Warmoth) from walnut and I was wondering how the wood affects the tone, also does it scratch easily? And is it heavY?

@redhook4 Hey there. The reason I chose walnut was for looks, I like deep rich woods and walnut was a good choice. The affects on tone- who knows man...the pickups, string, bridge, preamp/passive electronics all affect it. I build two basses with walnut bodies and they sound completely different. It it pretty heavy stuff, and in a J bass body style it'll be a hefty bass for sure. And I don't know what you mean by if it scratches easily, it doesn't scratch at all with a finish on it...
