My understanding of Noam Chomskys work is the exact opposite "if I had the capacity to be a good speaker I wouldnt use it" (NC rebel without..). One of the main points of Manufacturing Consent is to argue against the use of means of controlling thought through techniques of influencing emotion and attention. And young people from all over the world come and listen to his incredibly detailed and monotone speeches.

Unfortunately, those are the exceptional cases, meaning educated and informed, not the general population.....

That spiel is tired old propaganda. Those that don't vote have every right to complain about the voters and thier politicians who created the mess that we did not in conscience participate in. I'm sure there is a soldier somewhere right now, fighting for corporate profits. Let's be real honest, voting rights came about as a result of a common struggle...
