Replaced the CV axle assembly on our 94' Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ 5.2 V8.

This is the first of three videos showing from start to finish the process of removing the old CV axle assembly and replacing it with a new one. It includes tips to break the Hub Nut, which by the way is a pita, and also includes a list of tools used and parts needed.

This video is for informational purposes only and should not be treated as an instructional video. Any harm you may cause to your vehicle or your person is of your own doing and this video should have no impact on your decision to accomplish this repair. Basically, if you are uncomfortable changes your own brakes, move on.

  • i can't believe this guy is working on an INCLINED DRIVEWAY with a tiny hydro jack. wtf. prosthetic leg anyone?

  • Umm, not sure how you couldn't notice that the rear wheels are chocked....oh and his leg is just fine :)

  • We just relocated and have not unpacked all of our tools yet. We used what we had, got the job done, and did not ruin any tools or parts in the process. Guess our screwdrivers rock! heh!

  • get a good jackstand dude. your risking your life unnecessarily.

use the tire you took off, a wide log, or something solid.

  • @gypsiechavi no but really, was the only thing holding up the car that bottle jack? cuz i saw all the video parts to this video and he didnt get hurt but, just using a bottle jack as ur only support is kinda dangerous.

  • " it's a good idea to ha a crescent and a socket, in case asocket doesn't fit in there".

You are a fucking retard jack black. You are using a socket and a box- end wrech in the video. I think people who don't know their asshole from a fresh water sping should........

    SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!

  • oi

i replaced mine front axel and rotors and stuff it cost me like 1500 dollars

now i have to put in hubs WTF thats like another 500

but i cant do it mine self becaus ei have no place to do it

but the hus i will try doing it mine self and save like 300 dollars

    the end

    :P

  • Get yourself a combo wrench set with a ratcheting end. I did and it has saved me countless hours frustration and not worrying about taking the wrench on and off each time to turn it.

Very helpful especially when replacing the lower control arms on a BMW E30 3 series ;)

  • Looks like that hammer is his best friend

  • @forsterfb oi

i got this one from a juck yard for like 400 dollars and then he messed it up and got cv joint to u joint or something like that

and mine has u joint to u joints so now i have to find the pion gear yok with a ujoint and put that in

thats why i hate jeeps haha they changed the gears and axels and joints in like a year so theres 10 different matches and like 30 different gears and pionn sets for

its a HUGE mess for one little part

    the end

    :P

  • buy the front end from a wrecker from "wheel to wheel" or in your case.....

  • There are so many things wrong with what he is doing. While he may still have his legs at this moment, NO ONE should be working on a vehicle like this. Why doesn't he work from underneath the vehicle to take the bolts out of the back of the brakes instead of doing it blind? Because he's concerned about getting his head squished thats why.
