  • Hi Davie I just completed watching all 99 of your videos.WOW! I must say you are blessed with the gift of Tying and Teaching! Your Videos are a must see for anyone tying flies!Beginner or Seasoned tier. I hope you plan on many more videos!

Have you used the starling as a substitute for JC? Thoughts?

I see you added 3 more today.Great! I will be watching them straight away!

Thanks For sharing your talents with us!

  • Hi TryTooTie,

I'm glad you are enjoying the videos...I haven't used Starling in place of JC but I'm sure it would give an impression of eyes..

    All the best Davie

  • Hey Davie, absolutely loved the fly. Bumble's don't get much a run here in Australia, so how do you fish it?

  • Hi dunamisjc,

This fly makes a great top dropper fished on a cast of three flies if you were loch style fishing but it could easily be fished as a dry fly but on a lighter hook..It's a great pattern worth having in your box.

    All the best Davie

  • Realy realy nice fly Davie, but why do you smudge whole of the hook eye at the end of tying? Don't be angry on me, but Isn't it shame?

  • Hi trestij,

No worry's I'm not angry, I did clean the eye which you don't see as I cut out this part to save time for youtube, as I was pushing my luck with the time allowed as you can see it's nearly 13 minutes...I was surprised they allowed it on..

    All the best Davie

  • You truly are an artist Davie. I usually find that the gold head Montana stone nymph with a marabou tail is a deadly pattern, any hints and tips on tying one of these beauties.

  • lovely variant dave i wouldnt dream of going on lough carra without one during the perch fly. id say kingsmills moore would but that boy up happy hunting this season

  • Good to see your invicta as this is competition fly for FDG this year. Not exactly same pattern but your methods are great.

Would be grateful I you would demo a damsel as this is big catcher at my local club. Thanks

  • Davie,

Before all of your prior uploaded videos got deleted (sometime last year as I recall) you had a Waterhen Bloa and, I think, some other North Country spiders. I liked your tying of them. Would you please repost your Waterhen Bloa or other NC Spiders? Thank you. Bryan in Portland, Oregon, USA

  • if I looked up the dictionary I would probably find a word to describe this fly, and the tying, but I will just stick to this one "AWESOME".Once again Davie thank you. Cheers, Donie, Cork City.

  • another great pattern. would look good with a silver holo body? enjoyed workshop at angling centre. thanks again.
