While covering the Gaza protest in NYC, I just happened to run into Mathis Chiroux, member of "Iraq Veterans" Against the War.
Chiroux has claimed for the longest time that he was an Afghanistan veteran when the only two places hes ever been stationed is Japan (for 2.5 years) and Germany (2 years).
In fact, his entire time spent in Afghanistan basically involved 6 days (give or take a few hours) at Bagram Air Base as a journalist to write an article for the Army. During those 6 days, he never left the base and the Army doesnt even recognize his visit as an assignment to Afghanistan.
Of course, he claims he has Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) from interviewing real combat veterans.
(Rolls Eyes)
I am not sure that he claims the PTSD from interviews, but maybe.
More from basic training . perhaps
who am I to say what traumatizes someone else
He is articulate and joined the army and now he sees the wars are illegal and a mistake...end of story

@almikhailoff have you ever had a original thought that you did not get from a leaflet? I bet you consider people who write poetry or paint workers. Another fine product of are educational indoctrination system which has been overrun with burn outs from the 60's and 70's. War crimes in Gaza, who are they at war with ? Yea why won't the Arabs take their people in? That sure is a crime to let them stay in such a small area next to the people they hate and want to kill.

the progressives only recognize the army of the UN. And look at the job they did in Bosnia and just about any other place they have been. Any war is unlawful to progressives unless it involves union thugs or ecoterriosts. . But then they will whine like the little skirts they are when the Mullahs come to behead them. Unless they've been scared into converting already.

This guy is a moron. When you join the military you are volunteering to protect the nation despite of personal beliefs. Pat Tilman fought and died for a war that he didn't agree with because he was brave and he loved his country. Boys like Mathis feel they owe nothing to a country that gives them everything.

This guy rocks. He defines what it means to be American. As Americans, we are free to speak up and out about what we believe in. He refused to go to Iraq b/c he disagrees with the war and, as he states, the Constitution supports his choice. The Iraqi war is an unlawful war, as is the war crimes that are unfolding in Gaza at this very moment. Clearly this vet is not selfish or a coward, he has the strength to stay true to himself, and to support and fight for others.
