Intelligent life on a giant planet would be very different.

They would also have great problems when entering space as their bodies are designed for the greater gravitational pull on the planets surface and the air pressure created by the denser atmosphere.

Intelligent life on smaller planets would find it easier to go into space, but equally, are less likely to exist because smaller planet's cores "die" faster.
