Uptight? Clear to the editors? Damage control? What are you on about TDH41? I had nothing whatsoever to do with the torch—it was designed and manufactured by Bombardier as widely publicized.
And I like the design—aside from the logo slapped on the side like an afterthought—which is what I told the Star reporter I originally did the interview with about my opinion of torch design. I don't mind if it looks like a giant spliff either. Blaze on.

First, I am not an industrial designer—my design studio's NAME is Industrial Brand. Get your facts straight media.
And what does this have to do with anything? It's a torch. With flames. Held by a runner. Are we that desperate for a story that we have to go here? Really?

I think Rome is looking a little too far into this one.. It's just a torch. All the more recent torches have been shaped in a sleek modern style, not just ours. I'm sure I'm not the only one who hadn't made the connection until watching this.

mark stop being so uptight.... you obviously didn't make it clear to the editors your correct title. is it safe to assume that heads can't be Industrial Designers? I think the media caught you - i don't think the design is just a coincidence and you are now doing damage control. Regardless, i really like the design of the torch and think u did a great job even if you smoke weed and weaved it into the Olympics by creating a 'kick ass joint torch.' Awesome!
