My correction on point #3 below: I mean to say "3rd, nowhere in the bible does it say specifically that a MAN and ANOTHER MAN cannot also "be of one flesh" like it does for a man and a woman. Now remember, a lot of U.S. states had anti-miscengenation laws so that blacks and whites couldn't get married either, and among those proponents were Christian leaders citing it would be an abomination of "God's law."

First, marriage's origins pre-date Christianity, so his argument that marriage comes from "The Book" (I.e., The Bible) is bunk.

Second, you're not required by U.S. law to be a Christian to be married.

Third, nowhere in the Bible (english-translated or other) does it say specifically that a man and a woman cannot "be of one flesh," also (like it says for a man and a woman, ie. "married)

Fourth, by that same analogy, the King James Bible would be "counterfeit" as well.
