This video was shot by me in Woodland Hills, CA at the AutoGallery Grand Opening celebration held May 11th, 2002. This should (unfortunately) be the first time anyone sees it, as even I had forgotten it was on my HD.

Lots of hires photos I took of the car from that same day, and then more by other individuals in different settings, can be seen in this excellent gallery. Click through the other pages to see images from the rest of the production run.

Several of the other impressive cars you may notice in the background of my video/photos of #801 were also supplied for the party by the XJ220S's owner, including a Ferrari 360 Challenge, Porsche 959, Rothmans Porsche 962, 1972 Porsche 917-10K (the actual CanAm Championship winner, driven by George Follmer) , 1954 Porsche 550 Spyder Prototype, Lamborghini Diablo GTR, and finally a Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR LM. His collection includes many other significant automobiles as well.

Some details on the history of these special Jaguars, written by a friend of mine:

Jaguar XJ220 S TWR - Supercars.net

If the Jaguar XJ220 was the fastest production car in the mid nineties, then the TWR supercar made from the LeMans race version had to be astonishing. Compared to the standard XJ220, TWR's version sported a composite body, more power and went on an extensive weight reducing diet.

In January of 1993, Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR) and Jaguar Sport launched the XJ220C to compete in the GT class (Group N) of FIA motor sport. At the same time, they announced the XJ220S, a limited-production, road-going version, to comply with homologation requirements. It was easily the most radical supercar in Britain.

Although the standard XJ220 was clothed in a lightweight aluminum body, TWR's version replaced every panel, expect the doors, with carbon fiber. In doing so they added a front splitter, wider sills and an adjustable rear spoiler that gave the car an imposing edge and made the standard XJ220 look docile.

Overhauled out to 680 bhp, TWR cranked the twin-turbo V6 to its limits. Combined with a weight reduction that removed the stereo, air conditioning and heavy seats, the car could accelerate to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and reach 228 mph.

Only nine TWR XJ220s were completed and six of these were made as road-going S models. Almost all of the six cars have changed colors at least once and many made it over to America after Vik Keuylian, of Keuylian Motorcars, imported several.

The pictures above show chassis #784 in silver and #801 in blue when they were they were freshly imported into California. #784 has since been painted black, received custom wheels and new Infiniti projector headlights.

  • WAS TOMS CAR FITTED WITH A STANDARD XJ220 ENGINE, OR XJ220 S, OR OTHER SPEC ? BHP ?

  • @jarama3 - Should have the proper XJ220S drivetrain fitted.

You can learn all that is known about this car at XJ220data-dot-com

Enter VIN 'SAJJEAEX8AX220801' in the "Find Car #" search box.

  • This is confusing and no offense I have talked to the gentleman that sold these two cars but too my knowledge they are not a true S. I have the black S and and two are in museums and one is owned by the sultan of brunei and the last one being owned by a doctor in so cal. TWR only made five total. I wish someone could prove to me that this is a real S as well as the orange one. If your the owner I can help you get these cars legalized. If it is an S it is not legalized, because I am the only one.

  • I with you on the belief that perhaps this car is not here legally. That's only speculation on my part, based on my understanding of the laws and red tape associated with vehicle importation. If you have overcome those hurdles with your S - then congratulations!

I believe this car is driven very infrequently, and only with a 'Dealer' plate when it does go out. I do know the name of its owner, and would reveal that to you if you'd like to send me an email at my YouTube username at Hotmail.

  • @itef08 err.. cos if i had an xj220s id be pissing about on youtube....

  • @levrone007 - We exchanged emails offline - he's very legit.

Plenty of supercar owners "piss about on YouTube" and other message forums. Most are regular people with the same interests as you and I so why wouldn't they?

  • @Peloton25 that surely makes it even more special then. but on another note, sorry to be quite so crude, but fuck reversing it down past that there big black sign post, the xj220's a mighty wide beast. a glorious car mind.

  • The Xj220s cars were 5 of the Fastmasters cars that were converted on their return to the UK.Some of the better fastmasters cars were put back to standard , I believe.Seen a couple for sale.
