@tnisgrl16 Well, to strum on someone's heart strings is a metaphor - it means you play with their emotions, usually relating to love (hence the "heart" bit). Like I said to the other person, grade 8 is the highest qualification you can achieve so it means you're practically flawless with guitar. Therefore Ed is saying the girl manipulates his feelings with no effort at all and I guess he can't feel any different towards them no matter how hard he tries. That's my interpretation anyway.
