Zenyatta the Diva

This video is shot minutes before the 2009 Breeders' Cup Classic (11/7/09), as the horses are parading through the paddock on their way to the starting gate. Normally, the horses walk by briskly, which is encouraged by their handlers so they don't get spooked by the attention, a custom that 2009 Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird (#1), 2008 Santa Anita Derby winner Colonel John (#2), and 2009 Belmont champ Summer Bird (#3) all follow. Then comes the only female in the race, the #4 horse Zenyatta, who hilariously stops and appears to bask in the attention, as if shes on the red carpet posing for the Paparazzi. A few minutes later, Zenyatta beat all the boys in the race to become the 2009 Breeders' Cup champion and is now the favorite for 2009 Horse of the Year.

I was lucky enough to be there, I got to see her walk by right before she went into the tunnel right on the fence. I found it funny when Summer Bird walked by and then there was a pause, then big, beautiful Zenyatta strutted by and the crowd around me broke into applause and started cheering. Best day of my LIFE
